I am glade we went, had a great time with the kids and friends. Wish it had been longer. We ended up going back and getting a bigger float for us all and do it again. U do have to paddle, but it was more to get around the trees in the water. Coming off the water was not fun. It is like u r walking over a road that is all broke up and sharp. Water shoes are a must. U do have to pull your floats and coolers off the water yourself and up a hill. No beach really to be lazy at.
I have NO CLUE what trash people speak of, the staff pick up trash the whole time you are rafting.
A lot about this place is simply frustrating. Getting to the river is a pain. They run out of double floats quickly. When you're in the river, you're going against the current so you constantly have to paddle to go in the "right" direction. Nothing lazy about it.
There was a group of ladies the staff towed 1/2 way down the river just because they were asked. Service was A+!
I wouldn't recommend this. Without considerable effort and a paddle you are not going to get down the river. The availability of tubes is very poor, most people having to tie together a bunch of single tubes to make a group float.
I would not recommend.
An employee, Noelle, did an excellent job coordinating the congestion at the end of the trip. She emerged as a leader within the staff loading tubes onto the shuttle. She also handled an overly intoxicated woman and verbal altercation well.
While people complain this was a $15 per person trip, be thankful it is not double the price for three hours of floating.
The set up was very inconvenient as patrons carried their own tubes to the riverbank. The ramp to get on and off the river was very dangerous and not wide enough to safely carry the tubes down stairs. The staff sent us out without a paddle and our tubes went upstream at some points due to the lack of current. It took our 8 person group 3.5 hours to go .5 mile. Our tube started losing air and went rather soft by the end of the trip.
We did not see any police, just fishermen. There was a sign posting it is illegal to drink on the water(so take it for what it is worth)
The river yesterday was very slow so paddling was needed. We started with orange tubes, but they were not comfy so the staff boated down the river and gave us blue tubes with headrest!(awesome service) The first rope swing on the left was really fun and the only good one.
The company also clearly encourages a party atmosphere with cooler floats, their only guidance of "no glass bottles", and a shoreline full of empty beer cans, while local law enforcement hangs out just down the send-off point to nail people for open containers. Many guests had no expectation that having drinks on the water was illegal, and we watched the police cite people non-stop, even taking two guests out in handcuffs.
Finally, this is public "land" so you CANNOT HAVE OPEN CONTAINERS. The business does nothing to tell you this. I understand it's supposed to be common sense but we saw multiple people get citations and there was even one arrest. Be aware. Cops are patrolling the river constantly.
The staff bent over backwards to take care of its clients. The end of the river is shallow, they pulled us through to the end. Offered to load up our cooler to the trailer. They did load all of the tubes on the bus.
I won't be coming back.
